Peterhead gets Active
Over 470 people from across Peterhead in Aberdeenshire braved the rain to walk, jog and run their way to fitness this week as they took on the Active Nation Marinathon 3k challenge.
The annual jogscotland event was renamed the Active Nation Peterhead Marinathon in support of the nationwide initiative to encourage and motivate Scots to get active and get more out of life.
Everyone who completed the race received a goody bag, containing an Active Nation t-shirt and water bottle, and a complimentary medal. In return they set themselves a personal activity goal to help keep them active over the coming months.
Event organiser and jogscotland's Chairman in Peterhead, Stephen Bruce, said: "The theme of the event was 'Let's Get Active in the Blootoon' which ties in perfectly with the aims of Active Nation. We got a great turnout on the evening, particularly given the bad weather, with a good mix of children, families and older people coming along to get active and have fun.
"It's great to see the community coming together to be part of an event like this. Most of the people who completed the 3k set themselves a goal to keep fit and active for the future, and the money we raised from donations will go towards the Light Up Peterhead Christmas Lights appeal."
